Two statements that guide what the organization does and what it works towards.
Mission
AISED works to strengthen social development and economic opportunity in Albania by supporting education and skills, encouraging community participation, promoting equal opportunity and inclusion, and cooperating responsibly with communities, institutions and other civil society organizations.
We pursue this mission through information, learning activities, capacity development and structured dialogue, with attention to the specific needs of the communities we work in.
What the mission means in practice
- Education and skills
- Supporting access to learning and to skills that are recognized in the labour market and in community life.
- Participation
- Helping residents take part in local discussion and decision-making in an informed way.
- Equal opportunity
- Working so that access to information, learning and economic opportunity does not depend on gender, background, place of residence or level of formal education.
- Community resilience
- Strengthening the local capacity to organize, cooperate and respond to difficulty.
- Responsible cooperation
- Working with others openly, respecting mandates and avoiding duplication of effort.
Vision
We work towards an Albania in which communities have real opportunities for social participation, education and economic development; in which inclusion is a normal feature of public life rather than an exception; and in which local development is planned with a long view and with the involvement of the people it concerns.
This is a description of a direction rather than of a finished state. Our contribution is a part of a much wider effort involving public institutions, communities and many other organizations.
